Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy is a pluralistic Jewish day school for students in grades 6-12. Located in Bryn Mawr, PA (metropolitan Philadelphia), Barrack is the premier Jewish day school in the Delaware Valley, attracting students from Philadelphia and its suburbs, Allentown, southern New Jersey, and Wilmington, Delaware. Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and caring educator to serve as a full-time middle and high school fine arts teacher and advisor beginning in late August 2025.
Interested candidates must have the ability to collaborate with colleagues, develop student-centered curricula, and foster a growth mindset for each of their students. The successful candidate will develop an inclusive environment where students feel safe to take risks in their learning. In addition, the candidate should seek professional growth through team meetings, professional development opportunities, and collaboration with Barrack colleagues. The successful candidate has a strong work ethic and enjoys teaching middle school and high school students with energy and enthusiasm.
Qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree with a strong background in educating middle and/or upper school students grades six through twelve. Master’s degree candidates are preferred.
- Interest in the development of a Fine Arts curriculum that balances skill-building, creativity, and exploration
- Technical art skills and techniques in diverse mediums, not limited to but may include: drawing, painting, sculpting, and printmaking. Experience in ceramics and kiln-use preferred.
- A positive and strong work ethic
- Understanding of foundational principles, such as color theory, composition, perspective, and texture
- Ability to differentiate instruction for students within a heterogeneous classroom setting
- Ability to function as a member of a team with administrators, teachers, students, and parents
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with experience in communicating effectively with parents, students, teachers, and staff
- Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner
- Kindness, patience, and a healthy sense of humor
- Proficiency in the use of classroom technology, including but not limited to: Google Suite, learning management systems, and email management
