Communications Assistant
The Communications Assistant fills an important role in powering the GFS story and supporting the work of Admissions and Advancement through digital communications including web, social media and email. Key areas of focus include managing web updates, planning and executing email, producing visual assets (photography and graphics) and contributing to social media planning and management.
Responsibilities
· Work closely with colleagues to plan and think strategically about weekly, monthly, and annual content goals and needs.
· Manage email calendar. Plan and produce email in partnership with colleagues and school partners.
· Aid in updating and refreshing website and pages, managing ongoing requests, as well as yearly milestone projects.
· Build expertise to fully leverage digital tools for email, web content, intranet, social media, and advertising.
· Create compelling graphics and assist in design of marketing collateral.
· Aid in the production of digital marketing campaigns (email, social media, and web).
· Provide general department aid, as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.
· Photography skills, a plus; may schedule and shoot images for use across digital platforms; able to edit and curate images for a range of media, including web, social, and advertising.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree with significant training and/or experience in digital communications.
· Proficiency in G-Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms and social media management tools; willingness to become expert in school’s CRM Finalsite, Student Information System Veracross, and project management system Basecamp.
· Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple projects at once; creative thinker and contributor; flexible, resourceful, detail‐oriented, and proactive.
· Availability to attend/staff some evening and weekend events, including Open House, Alumni Weekend, among others.
The Advancement Department is responsible for all Development, Communications, and Marketing activities, reinforcing and building a community of students, faculty and staff, alumni, and families who embrace the school’s mission and share lifelong connections with the school. The department works strategically and collaboratively with colleagues across campus, and volunteers to raise funds for programmatic, endowment, and capital priorities.
