Digital Communications Manager

Philadelphia, PA

Germantown Friends School is seeking a Digital Communications Manager to serve as the school’s primary digital content strategist and writer/producer, and is responsible for managing and optimizing GFS’ digital presence across platforms (web, social media, email) in support of Advancement and Admissions goals. They will utilize best practices in branding, messaging, analytics, and user experience to produce and manage a cohesive, relevant, and engaging journey tailored to each audience. This position is part of a collaborative, creative team, and is central to bringing GFS’ mission to life, inspiring interest, engagement, and support. 

 

Responsibilities  

·     Manage GFS’ web and intranet presence, collaborating with others to write and create engaging and useful copy, content, and experiences.

·     Plan, produce, implement, and manage email communications for internal and external audiences such as family, alumni, and donor audiences; collaborate with Admissions email associate.

·     Write, produce, manage, and plan social media strategy, calendar, and content, collaborating with colleagues on creative storytelling.

·     Manage digital marketing including advertising, search, and analytics to continually optimize journeys and refine targeting. 

·     Serve as the digital communications lead with Admissions, coordinating with the team to plan, produce, and optimize marketing. 

·     Optimize and manage GFS information distributed by external sites and digital partners, including Niche.

·     Become expert in digital tools to fully leverage web content, email, and social media management, analytics and insights, SEO, and advertising/marketing.

·     Develop analytics dashboard and collaborate with colleagues to produce regular insights and reports that are used to continually optimize communications. 

·     Stay abreast of digital communications trends, innovations, and advances. Aid team in incorporating ideas and practices that would add value.

·     Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to build and maintain strategic, forward-looking editorial plan and communications calendar.

·     Cover and assist with important school events, initiatives, activities, and stories

·     Assist the Director of Marketing and Communications with managing weather-related communications, crisis communications, and other urgent school notifications. 

·     Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements 

·     A Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, public relations, advertising, or related field. 

·     Minimum of 5 years previous professional experience in a digital communications role, which can include internships. 

·     Exceptional writing, research, proofreading, and project management skills along with the ability to adapt style and voice for a variety of audiences.

·     Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.

·     Proficiency in G-Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms, and social media management tools; skills to become expert in school’s CRM Finalsite, Student Information System Veracross, and project management system Basecamp.

·     Proficiency in social media management, CMS, and analytics tools preferred. 

·     Availability to attend/staff some evening and weekend events, including Open House and Alumni Weekend, among others.
