Early Childhood Associate Teacher

Christina Seix Academy is an independent Pre-K to 8th grade boarding school. The Associate Teacher would work with the Lead Teacher, Senior Director of Academic Programs and other instructional team members to create a nurturing and effective learning community, utilizing our 70 acre campus and state of the art facilities. Primary responsibilities will include collaborating with a seasoned Lead Teacher to plan intellectual activities in alignment with instruction. When needed, Associate Teachers will be expected to take on the role of Lead Teacher.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required
1 successful year teaching preferred
Bilingual desirable, but not required

Job responsibilities will include:

Academic

Partner with the Lead Teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, Tools of the Mind;.
Assist with monitoring and supervising all classroom and outdoor activities to assure a safe, healthy, inclusive environment for all children.
Work with Lead Teacher and other instructional staff to design activities, learning experiences, and field trips.
Support with tracking and assessing student academic progress and attendance;
Individualize instruction to help each student achieve curricular objectives;
Provide students and caregivers with regular feedback regarding student performance and progress;
Prepare students for formative and summative assessments;
Integrate and manipulate technology;
Work as a part of the Before or After Care team, as assigned.

Physical and Emotional Demands: Work is active; it may require long periods of standing and walking, as well as occasional sitting, reaching at or above shoulder height, twisting, pushing/pulling and stooping/bending/lifting to perform activities with students and staff; must be able to work in an open-concept environment where noise and other activities may at times interfere with concentration. Must be able to alter plans/routines when unexpected, stressful situations and multiple interruptions occur without projecting stress/frustration that would adversely affect the work environment.
