English Teacher

Villanova, PA

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent, college preparatory Catholic day school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, seeks a full-time English teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and student-centered individual versed in current trends and emerging ideas in education. This candidate will be an experienced educator eager to inspire students in the study of literature; they are enthusiastic about faith-based girls’ education, are experienced in using instructional technologies, and enjoy working within a team setting of shared ideas and constructive feedback. S/he should demonstrate a knowledge of English literature, both creative and non-fiction writing, effective planning, instruction, and assessment. S/he must be a culturally competent team player with initiative, good judgment, and solid problem-solving and communication skills.  

English teacher:

  • Teaches literature to students in grades 6 through 10.
  • Creates and delivers engaging curricula in conjunction with departmental scope and sequence
  • Establishes a culture of positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents; responds to messages and inquiries in a timely manner
  • Creates an inclusive and equitable classroom/work environment
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom
  • Thoughtfully supports and engages diverse learners

 

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in English or a related subject; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Middle or Upper School teaching experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective 

teaching

  • Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and deliver content 
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and commitment to social justice and girls’ education
