Human Resources Administrator

Philadelphia, PA

Friends Select School is seeking a full time HR Administrator to manage their HR related systems and functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will work closely with other members of the business office, as well as the Director of Equity and Inclusion/Director of Employee Engagement, Hiring, and Retention.  


Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the Controller to ensure accurate operation of the School’s payroll and benefit system and program
  • Work closely with the Director of Equity and Inclusion/Director of Employee Engagement, Hiring, and Retention to lead the School’s recruitment and hiring process 
  • Alongside the Director of Equity and Inclusion/Director of Employee Engagement, Hiring, and Retention oversee the School’s New Employee Orientation and mentor/mentee program
  • Manage the School’s onboarding process for all employees, including the tracking of all required paperwork and clearances
  • Oversee the School’s offboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for former employees as they leave Friends Select
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to employment practices.
  • Oversee and coordinate the School’s employee evaluation process
  • Maintain organizational charts and job descriptions
  • Ensure that HR issues and grievances are addressed and responded to in a timely manner
  • Oversee the School’s Human Capital Management program
  • Assist with other HR activities as needed


The ideal candidate has the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred 
  • 2-4 years of work experience in payroll, benefits, or other HR related field
  • Experience creating and setting up systems and processes 
  • Knowledge of best practices related to Human Resources for the workplace
  • Comfort and skill with technology, including Google Workspace and Microsoft products
  • Experience using Paycor and/or other HRIS and ATS systems
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to learn, especially as it relates to new systems and processes
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, as it pertains to employees, personnel issues and school records.
  • A commitment to social justice and anti-racism
