The Health Director at Princeton Friends School is an approachable, engaged community member who combines expertise in student health with flexibility and creativity to support a wide range of school operations. This role is ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented and enjoys wearing many hats—providing health care, managing records, greeting families at the front desk, and pitching in wherever needed to keep our school running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

This full-time (or flexible part-time) position blends health leadership with administrative support. Our Health Director will:

1. Provide compassionate, responsive healthcare to students throughout the school day.
2. Support health and wellness education for students and staff, both informally and through planned programming.
3. Monitor student medical records, immunization tracking, and compliance with state regulations, HIPAA and NJAIS policies. Submit data/reports to appropriate organizations/authorities.
4. Lead infectious control efforts and stay current on best practices for community health.
5. Administer medications and develop individualized healthcare plans in close communication with families.
6. Organize first aid/medical aid kits for day and overnight field trips, educate school staff as needed on relevant students’ medical needs/medication needs.
7. Serve as a key member of the school’s safety and emergency response team.
8. Maintain properly stocked medical supplies and bloodborne pathogen kits throughout campus and ensure staff know the location of each kit.
9. Support daily school operations, including:
10. Covering the front desk and welcoming visitors.
11. Assisting with attendance and other routine administrative tasks.
12. Acting as an “administrator at large,” ready to step in where needed to keep the school day running smoothly.
13. Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment for our students, faculty, and families.

What You Bring

You are someone who brings:

1. Experience working with children (ages 3–8th grade) and values their capabilities.
2. A Registered Nurse degree or equivalent health-related certification (experience in a school setting preferred but not required).
3. A high level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
4. A clear, customer service-oriented approach to communication with students, families, and colleagues.
5. Flexibility, creativity, and a sense of joy to your work.
6. Eagerness to build relationships across differences and support an inclusive, anti-bias learning environment.
7. Enthusiasm to be part of a small team where collaboration and adaptability are essential.
8. A strong commitment to anti-racism in and out of school.
9. Experience in a Quaker school or a commitment to learning and adopting Quaker values and practices in a school setting.

Schedule & Compensation

The Health Director role is a full-time position and offers a flexible schedule shaped by both the needs of the school and the strengths of the right candidate.

Salary range: $40,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience.
