Part-Time Interventionist in Literacy and Mathematics (Grades 1–8) for the 2026-2027 Academic Year
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, approximately 20 hours per week
Caseload: 10-15 students
The College School, located in Newark, Delaware on the University of Delaware Children’s Campus, offers students who learn differently in grades 1 through 8 a rigorous and engaging curriculum within a unique university setting. As part of our ongoing commitment to student success, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated part-time Interventionist to support students in strengthening both literacy and mathematics skills. This educator will provide targeted, small-group and individualized instruction with a focus on reading comprehension strategies and the development of foundational mathematical understanding, including number sense, problem-solving, and pre-algebraic thinking.
The ideal candidate brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to intervention, with the ability to meet learners where they are and move them forward with clarity, creativity, and purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted intervention to students in grades 1–8 in the areas of literacy and mathematics, using assessment-driven instruction.
Design and implement effective instructional strategies to strengthen reading comprehension, including vocabulary development, inference, and critical thinking skills.
Support the development of foundational math skills, including number sense, computation, and mathematical reasoning, using the Bridges Math Intervention program.
Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to implement individualized instruction.
Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional approaches to ensure continued academic growth.
Maintain clear and accurate records of student performance and intervention outcomes.
Write report card narratives for each quarter of the academic year.
Qualifications:
Previous classroom teaching or intervention experience in literacy and/or mathematics.
Strong understanding of reading comprehension instruction and foundational math skill development.
Experience supporting students with diverse learning profiles is highly valued.
An advanced degree in education or a related field is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with students, teachers, and families.
A genuine passion for helping students grow in confidence and competence as learners.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience ($27-45/hour)
