Position Summary: The Haverford School is seeking a part-time Upper School Spanish teacher. Preferred candidates will have an academic background in the discipline and a record of demonstrated success working with young people in education or a related field. They are an enthusiastic individual who has demonstrated a passion for the culture and language of the Spanish-speaking world and for teaching that builds interest in, enthusiasm for, and mastery of the subject.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach two/three sections of Spanish, ideally at a standard and honors level, as high as Spanish V
- Prepare course materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, assessments, projects, and papers.
- Plan course content, revise curricula, manage course materials, and develop instructional methods.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
- Follow the predetermined, rotating class schedule
- Participate in school evaluation and professional development programs
- Be fluent in Spanish, including experience studying or working in a Spanish-speaking environment
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish or a related field
- At least 3 years of teaching experience preferred
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with students, colleagues, and parents
- Enthusiasm for teaching, motivating, coaching, and mentoring high school students
- A role model for students

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and diverse contacts.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
- Occasionally, be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
- Work primarily in a traditional, climate-controlled office environment
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
