Philanthropy Impact Specialist

Germantown Friends School is seeking a Philanthropy Impact Specialist who will share with donors the impact of their support. As a member of the Advancement Department, this individual will develop narrative, visual, and video reports, stories, and messages that powerfully communicate the ways in which philanthropic support contributes to a positive and thriving school. The successful candidate will work closely with the Development team to learn about GFS donors and their interests, then generate creative communications--some brief and others more substantive--to communicate the school’s gratitude and the value of long-term engagement with the school. 

 

Responsibilities

·     Develop comprehensive annual stewardship plan, including recognition and stewardship initiatives, such as annual stewardship reports, and opportunities to engage with the GFS community at various school events.

·     Implement communication plans for donors, including personalized acknowledgments, regular updates, phone calls, newsletters, appreciation emails, and capturing impact stories of the endowed funds they have supported or of other major gift contributions.

·     Manage list of endowed funds to be sure it reflects new funds established.

·     Coordinate with Chief Advancement Officer, Associate Director of Advancement, Director of Advancement Services, and partners within the school to ensure all are aware of the active endowed funds and clear on their intended purpose.

·     Write annual stewardship letters for reunion class gifts.

·     Coordinate stewardship visits to campus for foundation representatives and donors.

·     Support content development on funding priorities, including Annual Fund designations.

·     Draft annual acknowledgment letters sent to donors who contribute to particular initiatives.

·     Work with Alumni Relations on Class Notes and write articles about alums and donors for donor publications, including the GFS Bulletin and the Report of Gifts, as needed.

·     Capture all stewardship actions in Raiser’s Edge; produce quarterly progress report on stewardship actions completed.

·     Develop and implement strategies to retain donors, including customized stewardship plans, targeted outreach, and donor recognition activities.

·     Support the Advancement Department with the organization and coordination of donor appreciation and cultivation events.

 

Other duties, as assigned (including but not limited to):

·     May occasionally assist with the identification and assessment of potential grant funders, and the preparation of stewardship reports and grant proposals, ensuring timely and accurate submission to meet funder requirements.

 

Requirements

·     Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, journalism, public relations, advertising, or related field

·     Minimum of 2-5 years previous professional experience in a Communications, Development, and/or donor stewardship/donor relations role is preferred.

·     Exceptional writing, research, proofreading and project management skills along with the ability to adapt style and voice to writing on behalf of varied audiences.

·     Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.

·     Proficiency in G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with Raiser’s Edge or another CRM software preferred; skills to become proficient in project management software (GFS uses Basecamp currently).

·     Availability to attend/staff some evening and weekend events, including Open House, Alumni Weekend, among others.
