Religious Studies Teacher/ Assistant Campus Minister

The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, an independent, college preparatory Catholic day school for girls located in Villanova, Pennsylvania, seeks a full-time Religious Studies Teacher and Assistant Campus Minister for the 2024-2025 school year. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and student-centered individual versed in current trends and emerging ideas in education. This candidate will be an experienced educator eager to inspire students in Religious Studies as well as support and offer guidance to the Director of Campus Ministry in building a strong faith community. 

They are enthusiastic about faith-based girls’ education, are experienced in using instructional technologies, and enjoy working within a team setting of shared ideas and constructive feedback. S/he should be a practicing Catholic, deeply knowledgeable about the Catholic faith, passionate about teaching and learning, and able to relate concepts and principles to students' everyday lives. S/he must be a culturally competent team player with initiative, good judgment, and solid problem-solving and communication skills.  

The Religious Studies Teacher/Assistant Campus Minister:

  • Teaches religious studies to students in grades 6 through 10 and supports the Campus Minister

  • Creates and delivers engaging curricula in conjunction with departmental scope and sequence
  • Establishes a culture of positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents; responds to messages and inquiries in a timely manner
  • Creates an inclusive and equitable classroom/work environment

  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom
  • Thoughtfully supports and engages diverse learners
  • Supports the school Liturgies and weekly Community Prayers

  • Assists with the implementation of student and adult retreats
  • Collaborates with the Director of Campus Ministry to enrich service learning experiences

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Theology or a related subject; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Middle or Upper School teaching experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
  • Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and deliver content 
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and commitment to social justice and girls’ education
