About you and the role:
As a speech-language pathologist at DVFriends, you will join a dynamic team aligned in the goal of helping bright students with learning differences reach their full potential. The speech-language pathologist partners with the faculty and the administrative team in all three divisions of the school (lower, middle, upper) to support students who have specific speech-language needs. The speech-language pathologist reports to the director of teaching and learning.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Provide therapy for students in areas including language, articulation, fluency, and social communication
- Provide individualized instruction to students (small group, one-on-one) in a partial teaching load
- Administer diagnostic screenings and evaluations as needed
- Effectively consult and collaborate with colleagues to integrate recommended strategies into content area classes
- Track and record student progress, communicate with families as needed
- Remain abreast of emerging research and best practices through ongoing professional development

- You deeply understand students who learn differently and have the ability to support faculty in meeting each student’s needs.
- You know yourself well, faults and strengths, and approach others with empathy and generosity of spirit.
- You’re good at building trust with external and internal stakeholders and have a strong customer service orientation.
- You are drawn to serving an institution with the mission of Friends education, and previous experience in a Friends school is a plus.
- You have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice work.
- You hold a master’s degree in speech-language pathology
