AIM Academy is seeking a full-time Lower School teacher to support our 2nd Grade team. Responsibilities include implementing AIM’s curriculum, utilizing Lower School routines and procedures with consistency, crafting narrative comments at the end of each marking period, and developing lesson plans, homework assignments, and assessments for the following subjects: homeroom, reading, writing, math, and ideally WILSON® Reading System.
AIM Lower School teachers regularly collaborate to discuss student work, share best practices, and assess student progress. In addition, teachers are expected to form and maintain positive relationships with students’ families, including regular home-school communication and attendance at family conferences. All teachers are invited to participate in a variety of robust professional development opportunities throughout the academic year.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, attending faculty meetings, ordering instructional materials and supplies, developing Back-to-School Night presentations, attending a number of AIM community after-school events, and other duties as assigned by Administration throughout the school year.
AIM seeks instructors who are committed to collegiality and have high expectations for all students. The ideal candidate will have certification in Elementary/Special Education and WILSON® Reading System. Prior experience teaching students with language-based learning differences and familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach is preferred.
