Position Summary:
The Director of Student Life is a senior leadership position at LCDS. Reporting directly to the Head of School and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Student Life oversees and manages a comprehensive, integrated, and high-quality student life program that includes all student conduct policies and protocols, athletics and physical health, programs in wellness and emotional wellbeing, and social and community events involving students.
Requirements:
● Master’s degree
● Minimum of 5+ years experience in student life, as division leader, principal/assistant principal or equivalent position
● Strong leadership skills and a growth mindset
● Deep understanding of human development and the unique needs and milestones of students in grades Preschool through 12
● Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents or caregivers
● Ability to lead difficult conversations with a professional demeanor
● Commitment to confidentiality and utmost professionalism
Responsibilities:
● Cultivates a positive school culture of student growth by implementing clear behavior policies and protocols that address expectations of every student as well as disciplinary issues and restorative practices.
● Institutes practices and skills development outlined in LCDS Health and Wellbeing
● Works closely with teachers, administrators, and counselors to ensure that student needs are being met and issues affecting student well-being are addressed appropriately and promptly.
● Serve as a liaison between the school and home, keeping parents informed about student behavior, social-emotional concerns, and school events. Meets with families to discuss concerns or provide support.
● Familiarity with restorative practices in a school setting
● Desire to be part of building the larger school culture and community, particularly with regard to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts
● Possibly teach one course; push into classrooms regularly, as appropriate
● Perform other duties as required and assigned
