Holy Child Academy’s Lower School seeks a Third Grade Homeroom Teacher. Now entering its 99th year, HCA offers outstanding academic, performing arts, and athletic programs for students in Nursery through Eighth Grade. Position Overview:
This teacher will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. The homeroom teacher will lead the planning and delivery of instruction across core subject areas, supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. This individual will differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners and provide whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction. The teacher will manage the daily routines of the classroom, fostering a structured, organized, and supportive learning environment. Strong communication with families and collaboration with colleagues are essential, as is flexibility, professionalism, and reliability.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required
- Valid teaching certification (preferred)
- Prior experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably in a classroom setting (3+ years)
- Strong instructional, classroom management, and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and partner with families
- A proactive, flexible, and dependable approach to classroom leadership
- High energy, creativity, and a positive attitude toward working with elementary-aged children
- Genuine passion for elementary education
- Commitment to upholding the mission and values of Holy Child Academy and participating actively in school life
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required clearances: PA State Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Experience in a Catholic or independent school environment
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate, and challenging instruction across core subject areas
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners and monitor student progress
- Employ effective classroom management strategies to create a positive, orderly, and productive learning environment
- Foster students’ social-emotional development, encouraging positive behavior, responsibility, and self-confidence
- Provide a safe and secure classroom environment that supports student growth and achievement
- Communicate regularly and effectively and proactively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and administration to support student success
- Actively participate in division and faculty meetings, in-service days, and committee work, as needed
- Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
- Support HCA’s advancement efforts by participating in open houses and school events
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
Full Time Position - 5 days per week 7:30am - 3:30pm
