Cornerstone Christian Academy, a non-denominational, Christian school serving children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, located in Southwest Philadelphia, is a place filled with hope for children. In its 35-year history, the school has achieved so much, providing a rigorous education while integrating Christian faith and character development to prepare students for success in high school, college service, and beyond. Through individual and corporate giving, all students receive annual scholarship support of up to 90% cost of attendance. Position Summary


Cornerstone Christian Academy seeks a highly motivated and results-driven development professional to join our innovative and collaborative advancement team. The Director of Development will help strengthen the Annual Fund and expand the PA Tax Credit Program during a period of significant institutional growth.

Core Responsibilities


Annual Fund

  1. Lead the Annual Fund, achieving annual revenue goals through donor acquisition and retention, donor progression, and transitioning high-potential donors into the major gifts program.
  2. Cultivate donor relationships by building and maintaining strong connections, guiding them through meaningful engagement and stewardship to strengthen the philanthropic pipeline.
  3. Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communication, to design, implement, and evaluate annual appeals to achieve fundraising goals.
  4. Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager to support the growth of Cornerstone’s donor engagement program, Teammates.

PA Tax Credit Program

  1. Achieve restricted scholarship giving goals by managing and developing a portfolio of corporate and individual tax-credit donors; building and maintaining a robust prospect pipeline; and implementing qualification, cultivation, solicitation, renewal, and upgrade strategies.
  2. Organize events that support the program including donor appreciation and donor education events.

Data, Analysis and Innovation

  1. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete database records (gifts, pledges, contacts, restrictions, and soft credits).
  2. Collaborate with the Director of Financial Services on gift processing, reconciliation, and audit readiness.
  3. Analyze and track progress against goals including preparing monthly reports on giving trends, donor retention, and campaign effectiveness.
  4. Apply data, analytics, and appropriate new technologies to inform strategy, improve donor retention and upgrading, and support continuous improvement and growth.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree; 3+ years of development experience within an independent school or nonprofit environment.
  2. Demonstrated ownership of revenue goals and comfort being measured against them.
  3. Knowledge of the PA Tax Credit Program strongly preferred.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills; thrives on deadlines, metrics, and follow-through.
  5. Excel in a fast-paced, mission-driven school environment with ambitious goals, high expectations, and continuous growth.
  6. CRM proficiency (eTapestry or similar) and strong data hygiene habits and high attention to detail.
