Position Purpose
SCH Academy seeks a welcoming, organized, and dependable individual to serve as the Lower School Receptionist on Mondays throughout the school year. As the first point of contact for students, families, employees, and visitors, the receptionist helps create an inviting environment while ensuring the smooth operation of the Lower School office. The individual in this position provides front desk coverage, manages daily communications, supports students and families, and assists teachers with clerical projects as time allows. This position starts August 28, 2026.
Essential Responsibilities
I. Welcomes and Supports the School Community
- Serves as the friendly first point of contact for students, families, visitors, and employees.
- Greets visitors and assists with check-in procedures.
- Maintains a welcoming, calm, and professional presence throughout the day.
- Supports students who come to the office with questions, forgotten items, or minor needs.
- Respects the confidentiality of students, families, and employees at all times.
II. Manages the Front Office
- Answers and directs incoming telephone calls.
- Monitors the Lower School entrance and welcomes visitors.
- Assists with attendance-related questions and routine office communications.
- Directs inquiries to the appropriate faculty or staff member.
- Helps ensure the office remains organized and operates efficiently.
III. Supports Faculty and Staff
- Assists teachers with copying, organizing, and other administrative tasks as time permits.
- Helps prepare materials for classroom and school events.
- Completes additional office projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in a school, office, customer service, or reception setting preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and an enjoyment of working with children and families.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace; familiarity with Blackbaud is a plus.
- Ability to use standard office equipment.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Able to move around school environments.
- Regularly use close and distance vision.
- Regularly sits, stands, walks, talks, hears, and greets visitors.
- Works at a computer for portions of the day.
